Sunscreen Toxicity and You

5 07 2008

It’s probably because I don’t go in the sun very much (very pale and it’s extremely hot here!) that I hadn’t checked the safety of our current suncreens. But with enough poking and prodding from various blogs lately, I finally checked. We have been using No-Ad’s Baby version at 45 SPF. I tend to use hats and clothing… I have extrememly FAIR skin, and a family history of skin cancer, so I have to be careful. I find that you can do a lot with clothing… especially the light stuff. Oh, and just don’t sit in the sun for hours.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention… I didn’t really think about sunscreen! I hate the feeling, so have found other ways… but I’ll probably try harder now.

You’re both right about the clothing of course. There really isn’t a safer way to keep out of the bad rays unless you just stay indoors. ;)

I think it’s funny (and interesting!) that you both hate the way sunscreen feels. I’m a firm believer that if you have that kind of reaction to something, it’s your body’s way of telling you not to do it!
